I knew nothing about music until my freshman year in college at Northeastern U. in Boston, when I decided to take a history of music elective. Unbeknownst to me at the time was that NUs music department had been taken over by renegades from the New Enland Conservatory. Thus I was lucky to be taught by Helen Keaney, whose love of music planted the composing seed in my brain.

That seed lay dormant for many years while I pursued a career in the business world, until a couple of years ago when I became aware of all the potential of creating music using a computer. I began composing in Overture, then made the transition recently over to Sibelius. For virtual instruments I use East West Orchestra. Each day I'm up at 5AM and am able to compose for an hour or two before heading off to work. My goal each day is to write at least a measure - it's amazing what that can add up to over time.
