Fellow Artists, being new here I'm not sure what goes where. It appears that there are no specific categories in Forums, so I'll post this here. My main focus is film music. It's what I concentrate…Continue

"You're welcome, Harmonia! Doesn't your library have DVD's? In Illinois the libraries are connected and anyone can get anything. I There are pirating sites, but try a library first. It's worth the effort, Good luck!"

"Harmonia, you mentioned Gergiev, which reminded me of a great film with him conducting in a ballroom scene. The film is Russian Ark. Have your seen it? Everyone should see it! Filmed in the Hermitage by Sokurov in one single…"

"This Mahler is lovely. I like Gergiev too and all of his interpretations. It sounds like a lament of lost love, and I suppose it is. Those long suspensions and low strings really stab you in the heart. Did he write this before the war or after?"

Many of us who have discovered the expediency of working with sequencers and DAWS for immediate feedback (even pianos) have suffered losing notation skills along the way.

When I do a project that requires a good sounding demo, computer-based, I am in a DAW paradigm. But if the end result is for human musicians, this must be translated…

Hello Ken

I use Notion 5 composition software which allows me to import and sync video, it has great samples and work flow. I then import each instrument wave file separately into Pro Tools to master it. At that time I can also add any live instruments I need. I have a few compositions published in Nashville and am currently writing for a company in California that has clients such as Sketchers and Chevrolet and some film opportunities. There are a lot of composers writing for them and the clients pick what they like. How about you?
