Greetings, composers!  Our fall semester has gotten off to a great start with our first class on campus followed by the Violins and Videos Symposium.  Please note our fall schedule as one of the pages in the list on the right.

See you in class!

I found a really soft, grainy video of my HS Choir performing "All Things That Rise" in 2010. Seems like they still like to perform it.

Here's a better-sounding version by another choir:

Hello, CMS Composition Class Members!

Class starts again tomorrow, January 11th.  Same time, same place as last semester:  1206 Kenan, 3:45 pm.   Bring your works in progress, pencils, notebooks to take notes, and your creative ideas!

We'll begin where we left off in November - another look at modes, this time in preparation for later study of Messiaen's 2nd mode of limited transposition!   Hint: We'll look at half steps and whole steps and how their placement within a mode informs the sound, feeling and structure of pieces using that mode.

Exciting day today - we rehearsed Bethany's Theme and Variations on a Modal Melody, and it was lovely!

Many thanks to Aria on violin and of course to Bethany as composer and pianist.  All y'all be sure and come to the concert December 8th!

Sorry, Julie, I don't. I got this CD in the early 90s, and uploaded it to my Google Music account just recently.

Rich, do you have any Youtube links you'd recommend for listening to the Bulgarian singers?
